White Composite Fillings

A composite filling is what many people often call a white filling or porcelain filling. They are increasing in popularity as people choose to have fillings that match the look of their natural teeth in both color and texture. Composite fillings are unlike the old silver fillings in that they are tooth-colored. Many people consider them to be more aesthetically pleasing since they are less noticeable than traditional fillings.

How Are Composite Fillings Placed?

While composite fillings do take longer than traditional amalgam fillings, they can be completed in one visit to Dr. Gilberts dental office.

Your tooth will be numb so there is no pain involved. First, Dr. Gilbert will remove the decayed or cracked part of your tooth. Next, your tooth is thoroughly cleaned. The composite filling will be placed in layers over the tooths opening. A special light is used to harden the resin. They are then shaped and polished to look as natural as possible.
